Rebekah Nicholas is a studio potter making functional porcelain ceramics. Dinner and serving ware is useful and brings people together in an intimate way. She also paints in watercolors and enjoys the similarities between the two mediums. In both artforms, there is planning and then a moment of held breath as the processes determine the final outcome.
She works in porcelain and uses an electric kiln to make her work. Rebekah uses the wheel for most of the process and also uses plaster molds for larger items, like the chip and dips. Her glazes are all handmade from recipes tweaked to work with the clay and her aesthetic. Therefore, glazes are food safe and functional for everyday use. The final artwork is microwave and dishwasher safe.
